Every seed that is sown to fertile and rich soil starts its own life cycle. Snow covers, rain washes, the sun warms up and birth takes place. The soil always fulfils its promise to nature, and it gives birth in order to help the progression of the cycle of life.
The mind joins the development of body beginning from birth. The mind, which works like a recording machine with high speed, crawls to one room from another, runs through the gardens, wanders around the corridors. It climbs up the steep slopes of the system that constitutes the structure of the society while playing. Although development always sounds as a positive acceleration, we should also consider and add the role of change. The minds changes too while the body continues to develop, the transformation starts while the development completes itself.
The family unit that is organized in a micro basis, from which power takes its strength, builds and rises upon, is like a devoted cell that hums with activity, working for the production and formation of the new generations. The transmission of moral obligations and values, traditions and survival skills are all possible owing to the family. The society demands ‘typical’ individuals who are not surprising and all familiar. It gives responsibilities and tyrannizes people in order to make them fulfilled. While the existential awareness of the child is wandering around in a magical garden, kneaded with games and away from all this formed systems, it also moves along an assembly line like a raw material, ready to be processed in the hands of adults.
When will these small people who wander in this garden be exactly ready to encounter life? If all efforts are like shields held against the difficulties of the cycle, how and when life will exactly start?
“The Same Garden”, bringing together works by seven young artists, can be seen as a glance at this garden which is in between life and this blurry line right after birth. The exhibition that contains works from the Evliyagil Collection and young artists is open to view between 17.03.13 – 05.03.18 in ArtOda at Evliyagil Museum.
